Our heart is helping--not just through hoping things get better--but by taking the initiative to improve the communities we serve. Our dialogues are exceptional in educating attendees, but talking is not enough. There must be action to create real-time results. Barbershop Speaks prides itself on keeping an ear to the needs of the people we reach through our events. From planting bookshelves and free books in barbershops to donation drives to school supply giveaways, we seek change through a concerted effort to heal the community through service.

Over the years, we’ve…

  • Partnered with "Giving Hearts with Love Foundation" to collect donations in three local barbershops for a Help for Haiti initiative. This drive was initiated in response to a 7.2. magnitude earthquake in Haiti, which devastated the country.

  • Given free haircuts for high school graduating seniors, a partnership with North Miami Beach Vice Mayor Paule Villard, provided complimentary haircuts to seniors graduating despite the perils of the pandemic.

  • Conducted a "Bright Future" Back To School Giveaway provided backpacks, school supplies, and back-to-school essentials were given to students to adequately prepare them for a the coming school year.

  • Hosted a Voter Education Series as a three-part series that provided all the information to residents about the "who, what, and why" of voting and registered people to vote.
